The steel structure was built in a compound close to the side of the motorway. The bridge was moved using a self-propelled modular transporter, which guided the bridge slowly into place. The 67m steel bridge was edged down the embankment and along the motorway before being lifted into place. ![]() Part of the M56 was closed at the weekend as the new A533 Expressway bridge was installed near Runcorn in just one weekend, with workers toiling around the clock. ![]()
